Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen was joined by IWC brand ambassador Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport Team Principal and CEO Toto Wolff as they celebrated the opening of the newly relocated boutique at The Galleria Al Maryah Island on the eve of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
To mark the occasion, Christoph Grainger Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen, handed over the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition “Lewis Hamilton” to the six-time Formula One™ world champion* and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport driver.
The evening started off with the boutique’s opening ceremony with special guests Toto Wolff, Lewis Hamilton, Christoph Grainger-Herr, IWC Brand Director Middle East, Africa & India Mehdi Rajan and Senior Vice President of Mubadala Real Estate and Infrastructure Marwan Al Felasi. After a short Q&A moderated by Christoph with Lewis and Toto on stage, the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition (Ref. IW503002) was unveiled in front of 80 guests. The celebration continued at The Hidden Bar at the Rosewood hotel, where guests enjoyed live music on a terrace offering stunning views of Abu Dhabi’s landscape.
The boutique will give clients in Abu Dhabi an unprecedented experience that reflects the rich history and pioneering craftsmanship of IWC Schaffhausen. Set within a world-class shopping mall that attracts numerous tourists and residents every day, the all-new 79-square-meter luxury boutique features an improved tech-savvy customer experience that reflects the next generation of the continuously evolving brand.
The boutique will house limited-edition collections and timeless pieces. IWC’s in-house architects created the space as a special expression of the typically elegant IWC interiors. Inspired by local architectural references, brighter finishes were used and set in contrast to dark wood accents, while a truly unique facade was designed to interact with the sunlight – the perfect setting to showcase IWC Schaffhausen timepieces in a place like Abu Dhabi.
Mehdi Rajan said that he is delighted to relaunch the brand’s second stand-alone boutique in the capital city: “We are entering a stage of growth and expansion, and the Middle East is a key market for us.
