    The Ministry of Environment and Water in cooperation with the Dubai Police, Dubai Municipality, the Dubai Sports Council and the Dubai Foundation for Ambulance Services, recently organized the ‘Walking for Better Health’ walkathon that took place at Khor Al Mamzar, Dubai. Drawing in more than 200 participants, the event was developed to complement the ‘World Day for Physical Activity’, and the ‘World Health Day’.

  • 27th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol kicks off today in UAE

    In the presence of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, the 27th Meeting of the Parties to the Montreal Protocol (MOP 27) on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer opened today (Sunday, November 1, 2015) at the Conrad Hotel in Dubai. Running until November 5, 2015, representatives from a total of 197 countries attended the meeting, including more than 50 ministers and international figures from the environment, labor, economic and industrial sectors, heads of international organizations, 500 high-profile officials from specialized UN organizations, the private sector, universities, research centers, and regional organizations.

  • 6,000 tons of waste collected during ‘Clean Up UAE’ drive in Umm Al Quwain

    The Emirates Environmental Group’s and the Department of Economic Development in Umm Al-Quwain organized a ‘Clean Up UAE’ Campaign in Umm Al-Quwain Fishing Village where 6,000 tons of waste were collected over a period of 5 days. This year’s drive was aligned according to the UAE Government’s move declaring 2017 as the ‘Year of Giving.’

  • 6th Green Economy Annual Conference opens in Dubai with support of UAE Ministry of Environment and Water

    Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, UAE Minister of Environment and Water, and in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), the 6th Green Economy Annual Conference has started, under the title ‘National Roundtable on Financing and Investing in Green Economy Projects’. The forum saw broad international, regional, and national participation and was attended by senior officials from various government organizations and private sector companies representing banking and finance, insurance, investment, and industry. Key personalities from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Departments of Economic Development, the Ministries of Economy, Finance, Energy and Foreign Affairs, Municipalities, and Environmental Authorities were also present in addition to representatives from international organizations such as the UNO.

  • 6th Green Economy Annual Conference recommends forming of Operations & Communications Group

    Participants of the 6th Green Economy Annual Conference, organized recently by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water in collaboration with the United Nations Environmental Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI), have recommended a formation of an Operations and Communications Group. The group will include the Central Bank of the UAE, Ministry of Environment and Water, and UNEP FI and will lead in the undertaking of a number of measures such as implementation of the Green Economy within the framework of the UAE’s Green Growth Strategy and encouraging investment, banking and economic sectors to transform to a sustainable Green Economy.

Dr. Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahad, Minister of Environment and Water, and directors from various local municipalities will grace the opening of the ‘Forum for Best Practices in the Field of Municipal Work’ on December 10, 2015, with the participation of delegates from 15 main and sub-municipalities and more than 150 specialists involved in municipal work. To be held under the theme ‘Sustainable Buildings,’ the forum hosted by Ras Al Khaimah Municipality is being organized by the Ministry of Environment and Water’s Coordination of Municipal Affairs Office in cooperation with the forum’s committee.

    The world has made an impressive technological leap with the invention and development of electric cars, in keeping with the modern world’s focus on developing vehicles that consume less fuel. The advancement in electric vehicle technology has accelerated over the past decade, and many renowned global automobile companies have gone in the direction of producing, or making plans to produce, electric cars.
