  • 15 women from the GCC discover the beauty of Oman's spectacular mountains during an exciting trek in Jebel Shams

    The Oman Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Al Jebal Al Hajariya Travel and Tourism (Husaak Adventures) has successfully concluded the Western Hajar mountain range trek, which was held recently in Muscat, Oman. The hike featured a total of 15 female representatives who have gathered together from across the GCC countries to conquer the summit of Jebel Shams. Standing at over 3 km above sea level, Jebel Shams is the highest peak in the GCC where the hikers stood to send a message of love and unity under the slogan “One Nation”.

    16 women representing various GCC countries will climb Jebel Shams, the region’s highest mountain peak via Western Hajar mountain trek organized by Husaak Adventures in collaboration with Oman Ministry of Tourism from December 10 to 12, 2015 at Muscat, Oman. The three-day expedition will see the 16 female mountaineers making their way to Jebel Shams’s height of over 3,000 meters above the sea level.

  • Brazil posts robust trade with Arab region as imports grow 27 percent & export share rises to 15.4 percent during first half of 2017

    The Arab-Brazil Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) Brazil has announced that Brazilian average daily exports to the Arab region continue to soar, reporting a robust performance during the first half of 2017. Brazil’s total export market share in the Arab region rose to 15.4 per cent during the first half of 2017, in comparison with the total export market share recorded in 2016. Main exports included sugar, iron ore, beef, sports hunting equipment, car engines and chassis, automobiles, soybeans, poultry, coffee beans, precious and semi-precious stones, and cast-iron pipes. Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Algeria, Egypt, Oman and Bahrain were the largest importers of these goods.

  • Crossing the Empty Quarter Expedition officially launched

    As part of the Sultanate’s 45th National Day celebrations, with the blessing of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and under the patronage of HH Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq Al Said in Oman and HRH Prince Charles - The Prince of Wales in the United Kingdom and HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani in Qatar, the ‘Crossing the Empty Quarter’ expedition was unveiled to media at an official event held at the Diplomatic Club in Muscat on Sunday. For only the second time in recorded history an attempt is being made to cross the Rub al Khali, the biggest sand desert in the world. A team of Omani and British explorers will leave from Salalah in Oman on 10th December and walk across the desert through the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Doha in Qatar.

  • Drake & Scull Engineering awarded series of major contracts worth AED 350 million in Oman in Q2 2015

    Drake & Scull International PJSC (DSI), a regional market leader in the integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of General Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Water and Power, Rail, and Oil and Gas, and wastewater treatment, has announced that Drake & Scull Engineering Oman, a subsidiary of Drake & Scull Engineering, has secured a series of contracts for a combined value of AED 350 million. Under the terms of the agreements, DSE Oman will deliver the MEP works on the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Seeb, two hotels in Saraya Bandar Jissah near Muscat, and an airport hangar related facility.
