• Asians shine at National Creative Art Contest

    Creativity, colour and talent were the buzz words when 145 artists competed in the 7th UC DINOART National Art Competition held at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School this weekend. The 2-hour competition brought to the fore hundreds of ideas under one roof as youngsters aged 5 years to 15 years of multiple nationalities and backgrounds presented their thoughts visually. After two rigorous but creative hours of drawing, colouring and painting, 57 winners were awarded prizes across 14 categories.

  • Aspen Heights British School celebrates its opening with a grand launch

    Aspen Heights British School, a new British curriculum school in Abu Dhabi celebrated its official opening on Monday 2nd October with a grand launch event at the school.     Marcus Farr, a faculty member of the College of Architecture, Art and Design (CAAD) at American University of Sharjah (AUS), has been named a 2019 Fulbright Scholar, a prestigious and widely recognized acknowledgement of scholarly achievement. Farr will travel to the Yangtze River Delta region of China under the program, examining how historical architectural methods could inform more sustainable construction practices in modern China, and around the world, and will also be teaching.

A collaborative effort by AUS faculty and undergraduate students, AUSMUN is an innovative conference in which debates are fostered, alliances are created and thoughtful solutions are proposed to some of the most pressing issues of the present day. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, and other senior AUS officials.

  • AUS joins international Tiny House movement, creating a small living space with big potential

    Faculty and students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) have unveiled a “Tiny House” on campus, showcasing the latest research in sustainable and environmentally friendly construction. A team of undergraduate students, professors and alumni from the university have worked together over the past 12 months to design and build the Tiny House, which will serve as a laboratory for AUS students and researchers, and as a platform for future innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. 

  • AUS signs MoU with Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC) at Zhejiang University, China

    Enhancing its collaborative ties with institutions across the world, American University of Sharjah (AUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, March 6, with the Global Enterpreurship Center (Gerc) at Zhejiang University, China. In a ceremony held at AUS campus, the MOU was signed by Dr. BjÖrn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, and Professor Zhongming Wang, Director of Gerc. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both the institutions.

  • AUS to launch master’s in construction management degree

    His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), approved the proposal for the Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM), during a meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees held at the university on Wednesday, May 30.
