    American University of Sharjah (AUS) marked the start of its 20th anniversary celebrations today with a commemorative event. A series of functions planned throughout the year will recognize the significant accomplishments of the faculty, staff, students, and alumni. 

  • AUS hosts Model United Nations conference with 850 participating students from across the world

    More than 800 students gained a chance to experience the dynamics of the United Nations (UN); a valuable insight into the international realm of politics, during the American University of Sharjah Model United Nations (AUSMUN) conference held at AUS campus on February 8, 2018. A collaborative effort by AUS faculty and undergraduate students, AUSMUN is an innovative conference in which debates are fostered, alliances are created and thoughtful solutions are proposed to some of the most pressing issues of the present day. The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, and other senior AUS officials.

  • AUS joins international Tiny House movement, creating a small living space with big potential

    Faculty and students at American University of Sharjah (AUS) have unveiled a “Tiny House” on campus, showcasing the latest research in sustainable and environmentally friendly construction. A team of undergraduate students, professors and alumni from the university have worked together over the past 12 months to design and build the Tiny House, which will serve as a laboratory for AUS students and researchers, and as a platform for future innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship. 

  • AUS signs MoU with Global Entrepreneurship Research Center (GERC) at Zhejiang University, China

    Enhancing its collaborative ties with institutions across the world, American University of Sharjah (AUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today, March 6, with the Global Enterpreurship Center (Gerc) at Zhejiang University, China. In a ceremony held at AUS campus, the MOU was signed by Dr. BjÖrn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, and Professor Zhongming Wang, Director of Gerc. The ceremony was attended by senior officials from both the institutions.

  • AUS to launch master’s in construction management degree

    His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), approved the proposal for the Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM), during a meeting of the university’s Board of Trustees held at the university on Wednesday, May 30.

  • AUS wins top awards at the Sustainable Campus Initiative

    A team of faculty members and students from the Department of Biology, Chemistry and Environmental Sciences of the American University of Sharjah (AUS) College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has won two major awards at the Sustainable Campus Initiative (SCI), Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi, EAD, held in partnership with Borouge. The awards reinforce the university’s focus on research, innovation and sustainability.

  • Autodesk empowers students to bring their ideas to life at GESS Dubai 2016

    Autodesk, a leading design software company that is playing a very innovative role in the education sector, globally and in the Middle East region, has expressed its eagerness to help empower students in bringing their creative ideas to life. The statement came during the company’s participation at Global Educational Supplies and Solutions Dubai 2016 (GESS Dubai 2016), the region’s only event dedicated to the entire spectrum of educational supplies and solutions, which opened last March 1, 2016 and will run until March 3, 2016 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). The company has revealed that 3D technology has now become a more common part of today’s classrooms, which has resulted in the discovery that students are making significant contributions to the world around them at young ages. Looking to further nurture their creative talents, Autodesk will be holding specialized workshops for students visiting GESS Dubai 2016—throwing the spotlight on its key design solutions Memento and Fusion 360.

  • AUW Announces Scholarships for Yemeni Women

    Asian University for Women (AUW) and Tawakkol Karman Foundation (TKF) jointly announced a scholarship for 50 qualified young women from Yemen to attend Asian University for Women in Chittagong. Starting this year, the scholarship expands AUW’s mission to provide quality higher education for young women who are from conflict-affected countries, adding Yemen to existing student recruitment in Afghanistan, Myanmar, Syria, and Palestine.

  • Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation Hands-over Cheque for AED200,000 to National Charity Schools

    Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), donated AED200,000 to the National Charity Schools, in a bid to alleviate financial burdens faced by parents of students from low income households. Fahad Al-Bannai, Head of Endowment Way-outs Section at AMAF, handed over the cheque to Dr Kamal Farhat, General Manager of the National Charity Schools at the AMAF headquarters in Dubai on Last week.
