  • First space image of Dubai Water Canal full of water

    DubaiSat-2, owned and operated by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), has captured a high definition photos of the Dubai Water Canal full of water. The photos show the new waterway flowing from Dubai Creek down towards the Arabian Gulf. The image also show the various facilities built to run along both banks of the canal and the areas surrounding it, which consist of residences, malls, hotels and recreational centres.

    The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has been fuelling the UAE’s journey to the stars since its inception, and has recently made significant strides in achieving the country’s goal of becoming a leading spacefaring nation. This year, two Emiratis were chosen to be the first in space, with the aim of flying to the International Space Station in April 2019. The UAE has committed to further develop their locally-grown capacities as well, with the Hope probe set to arrive on Mars in 2021 to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the founding of the UAE.

  • LEGO® Education and FIRST® Unveil Space-Themed Sets for New FIRST LEGO League Jr. and FIRST LEGO League Season

    Today at the FIRST® Championship Houston, LEGO® Education and FIRST unveiled two new, exclusive space sets to inspire participants in the 2018-2019 FIRST® LEGO® League Jr. and FIRST® LEGO® League season. The programs for the new season are themed “MISSION MOON℠” and “INTO ORBIT℠” to help build students’ curiosity around space exploration and scientific discovery while developing their skills and experience in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Students are tasked with completing a space challenge designed in partnership with astronauts and space experts and will use a variety of LEGO Education solutions including the proprietary space-themed FIRST LEGO League Jr. Inspire Set and FIRST LEGO League Challenge Set, LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 or LEGO® MINDSTORMS® Education EV3.

  • MBRSC and AUS announce readiness of Nayif-1 Nanosatellite for Launch

    The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and the American University of Sharjah (AUS) have announced the completion of the design and building of the communication Nanosatellite, Nayif-1. The satellite has also successfully passed all stages and tests, and is now ready for launch into space aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 Rocket. The UAE's first Nanosatellite was developed by Emirati engineering students from AUS under the supervision of a team of engineers and specialists from MBRSC within the framework of a partnership between the two entities, aiming to provide hands-on experience to engineering students on satellite manufacturing.

    The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has launched the third cycle of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, offering Emirati undergraduate students the opportunity to intern at Space Science research centers in the United States, as well as at MBRSC.

    Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has announced its call of the Research Grant Program. The program aims to promote research and studies related to space science in the UAE. Those from the UAE community willing to participate in the program can suggest research topics related to space science or Mars and MBRSC will provide the funds for the implementation of the research selected.

  • MBRSC opens the space centre at KidZania

    The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) has officially opened its section within KidZania®, the award-winning children’s edutainment centre managed by Emaar Entertainment in The Dubai Mall. The new MBRSC space science and technology section enables the young visitors to join a team in designing and manufacturing their very own observation satellite, before witnessing the launch and then controlling the satellite as it orbits the Earth.
