The Institute of Finance and Management (IFM), a leading training institute for global professional certificates in Islamic Finance, has entered into a strategic partnership with the Emirates College of Technology’s (ECT) and Continuous Education Centre (CEC), an Abu Dhabi-based private institution of higher education, to explore mutual collaboration in the development of human resources, research and consultancy. The Memorandum of Agreement (MoU) was signed by Dr. Mahmoud Abdalaal, CEO of aafaq Islamic Finance, and Prof. Bruce Taylor, President of ECT, and Wael Al-Anqar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and CEC presenter.

With focus on improving the status of women’s health in the UAE, the British Orchard Nursery, UAE’s largest chain of pre-schools, teamed up with Lifeline Hospital to organise awareness event on cervical cancer. The event included an interactive session with doctors and staff at Lifeline Hospital who educated mothers on cervical cancer risk, and discussed protective and preventive measures in detail. The session was part of the complementary ‘Coffee Morning’ series, British Orchard Nursery’s ongoing calendar event that aims to address concerns that directly or indirectly affect children’s well-being with active involvement of both parents and children.

aafaq Education L.C.C is a private company specialized in managing and investing in educational institutions recently entered into a strategic partnership with the University College of Bahrain to offer an Executive Master’s Degree in Islamic Finance in the UAE. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Dr. Mahmoud Abdalaal, CEO of aafaq Islamic Finance, and Dr. Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Founder and Chairman of Board of Trustees at University College of Bahrain, in the presence of senior officials and managers from both parties.

Hamdan Bin Mohammad Smart University (HBMSU) received the Blackboard ‘Excellence in E-Learning’ award during the Blackboard Teaching & Learning Forum held recently in Dubai. The University was honored for its outstanding contributions to the development and adoption of E-Learning in the UAE by American educational technology company Blackboard Inc. Prof. Abtar Darshan Singh, Dean of HBMSU’s e-Education School, received the award on behalf of the University and presented it to the Chancellor, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar.

In an unprecedented move to transfer Arab learning innovations to Europe, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) and Chairman of the UNESCO Institute of Information Technologies in Education (IITE) Governing Board, met with Prof. Laurent Batsch, President of Paris Dauphine University, to discuss effective mechanisms for leveraging HBMSU’s expertise in ‘smart’ learning. The move is intended to help drive innovation at Paris Dauphine University, a public university known in the field of scientific research. The meeting took place during Dr. Al Awar’s visit to France organized to discuss next year’s launching of an International Master’s Degree in Sustainable Development. The program will be offered in partnership with Paris Dauphine University and with the support of leading academic and educational institutions from China, Malaysia, France, UAE and Russia.
