To promote the notion of national competition in the UAE, Tawazun sets part of the annual budget to Gold Sponsor a premier event for third continuous year that celebrates outstanding Emirati talents in technical and vocational skills to inspire young generation to get passionate about new trades and embrace technology-based career pathways.

Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and the Head of the General Women’s Union, the Emirates Skills National Competition will take place from 28th to 30th April 2015 at ADNEC.

Over 600 Emirati competitors will demonstrate their skills in thee competition in 34 categories in the fields of craftsmanship and technology by challenging their peers based on the standards and judging criteria of WorldSkills International.

Saif Mohammed Al Hajeri, CEO of Tawazun, said, “We are pleased to co-sponsor this main event in the United Arab Emirates, which highlights our interest in promoting the sense of competition across our beloved nation and support national creativity and most importantly teamwork.”

Adding that the National Competition is a great chance of discovering new skills and be involved in a “hands-on” workshops, get career advices on technical and vocational education in UAE and meet with educators, experts and representatives of the major industries. The event will give away prestigious prizes and awards to the high performers. Three winners will be announced in each category

The registration is open to all male and female UAE nationals from all job opportunities and levels of study, including schools, universities, and institutes. The applicant should be a minimum 16 years old and should not exceed 40 years old (only competitors under 21 years old will be eligible to participate in the WorldSkills Competitions).

Emirates Skills, which was launched in 2006, is a national and non-profit organisation that actively promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies.

Since 2008, Emirates Skills programme, which operates under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), has been organising events, training programmes and technical career activities to raise awareness of career-based skills among young Emiratis.
