To celebrate the UAE’s 48th National Day, La Mer, the world-class beachfront destination by Meraas, hosted Emirati star Hussain Al Jassmi, pop sensation Balqees, Kuwaiti maestro Essa Al Marzouq, and Emirati singer Eida Al Menhali for three nights of live music and sizzling fireworks on 29 November, and 1 and 2 December.
On Friday night, enthralled crowds took to the streets of La Mer, adorned in red, green, black and white, for the nationwide celebrations as Eida Al Menhali delivered a stirring performance with some of his best-loved songs, such as Motasoa and La Tetab Thononk.
Sunday and Monday nights began the celebrations with dazzling fireworks displays that lit up the skies at the beachfront destination. On 1 December, fans filled La Mer to watch Essa Al Marzouq kickstart the night with chart-toppers such as Qanabel and Men Halaty. Visitors were treated to a second free concert when Balqees took to the stage later that night and belted out her greatest hits, including Hawa and Majnoun.
On 2 December, Hussain Al Jassmi, the Expo 2020 Ambassador, headlined the finale at La Mer to mark the 48th UAE National Day. The Murex d’Or winner serenaded the audience with favourites such as Boshret Kheir and Mohim Jidan to wrap up the five-day celebrations taking place across the UAE.
