Friends of Cancer Patients (FOCP), a UAE-based cancer non-profit and organisers of one the nation’s most popular annual breast cancer awareness campaigns, the Pink Caravan Ride, has entered into an agreement with the University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) to boost the cancer detection, prevention and treatment services they have been offering to the UAE community across its seven emirates.

The Dubai Business Women Council (DBWC) announced that its total membership has increased by 36.5% during the first three quarters of the year. The council added 216 new members during this period, 50 of whom joined during the third quarter of 2018. The new members bring the total number of DBWC members up to 807, which is an increase from 591 members at the start of the year.

In the presence of Her Highness Sheikha Aisha bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Advisory Committee of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, the Breastfeeding Friends Society, one of the health promotion associations at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, organized its 18th annual ceremony, which was held at the Cultural Palace in Sharjah. During the ceremony, the society praised the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, for supporting women and empowering them, and for his care and protection of children.

Today, 230 million babies around the world, and 91 million babies in the region alone do not have birth certificates, resulting in a lack of basic human rights, needs and protection. As well as causing immediate issues, this lack of identity can also lead to displacement, statelessness, and the inability to prove that a child is a minor in the eyes of the law.
