The UAE Cabinet has issued a decree appointing H.E. Eng. Mariam Mohammed Saeed Hareb as the Assistant Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water’s ‘Water Resources and Nature Conservation Affairs Department.’ She was previously the Acting Assistant Undersecretary in the same department.

Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) and the Department of Economic Development (DED) have announced plans to transform government services using IBM’s cognitive computing system called ‘Watson’ during a press conference on the final day of Gitex Technology Week 2015. The government is working in collaboration with IBM to launch the new service, which will, in the initial stage enable exclusively DED customers, to benefit from the advanced self-service provided by the system to respond to all their inquiries related the DED’s services.

Dubai Smart Government Department (DSG) has announced the launch of CloudOne, a smart infrastructure cloud service for Dubai government entities, during its participation at this year’s edition of GITEX Technology Week 2015. The initiative follows the vision and directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to prioritize government integration and provide optimal leverage of government resources.

The Dubai Airport Freezone Authority (DAFZA) signed yesterday a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Smart Government (DSG) to strengthen cooperation in providing support to government smart services in line with their mutual efforts to implement the directives of the UAE’s wise leadership aimed at transforming Dubai into a ‘smart’ city. The agreement was signed by Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Director General, DAFZA, and H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Bin Humaidan, Director General, DSG, in the presence of key officials and managers from both sides at DSG’s stand in Gitex Technology Week 2015 which is currently being held in Dubai under the theme ‘The Internet Future of Everything.’

The Ministry of Health’s Health Centers and Clinics Department has organized a training workshop on occupational health services development and workplace safety protocols under the theme ‘The Constructive Partnership for Development.’ The World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean provided technical assistance to the workshop held in cooperation with The Institute of Public Health (IPH) of the UAE University, health authorities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well as concerned federal and local entities. Three WHO experts also took part in the event as facilitators.
