Dubai Smart Government (DSG), in co-ordination with Dubai government entities, is currently conducting a feasibility study to link all Dubai government entities with a shared modern fibre-optic network. The move is aimed at raising the efficiency of the technological structure of these entities and ensuring continuity of work through providing the best technologies for ensuring that the public get government services most seamlessly and urgently everywhere round the clock, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Dubai as a smart city.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has announced that 20 scholarships will be awarded to outstanding high school learners as grants from H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU. Bestowed for the third year in a row now, the scholarships aim to help learners in their quest towards scientific and academic excellence and enable them to contribute effectively to the UAE’s overall development. The H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Scholarship Program provides outstanding learners the opportunity to enroll at HBMSU’s e-School of Business and Quality Management and e-School of Health and Environmental Studies. Both schools follow the highest standards of innovation and incorporate the latest smart technologies to meet the aspirations of Arab learners.

H.E. Hussain Al Hammadi, UAE Minister of Education, expressed his sincere gratitude to the UAE’s visionary leadership for making education a top priority within the country’s agenda for strategic and ambitious development. H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has issued a Federal Decree appointing H.E. Abdelrahim Mohammed Abdullah Al Hammadi as an Undersecretary for the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water. The first article of Degree Number (76) for 2015 orders the promotion of H.E. Al Hammadi to the rank of Undersecretary for the Ministry of Environment and Water, while the second article stipulates that the Minister should implement the decree and publish it in the official newspaper.

Dubai Courts has announced the formation of a committee on Supreme Judicial Affairs, which will be headed by H.E. Expert/ Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director General of Dubai Courts. The move falls in line with Dubai Courts’ ongoing efforts to enhance court work, improve the speed and ease of litigation proceedings and enhance the accuracy and clarity of court orders—being at par with the objectives of Dubai Plan 2021. The jurisdiction of the newly established committee includes the review, examination and approval of new projects, proposals and initiatives that are related to the judicial sector. In addition, the committee will lead the efforts in adopting annual performance indicators and targets; assessing results and the proposal and implementation of corrective actions to improve the quality, efficiency and reliability of legal and judicial services, which is poised to help increase customer happiness and promote community welfare.
