NAMA Center, one of Qatar Foundation for Social Work’s Centers, has launched its ‘Moqbeleen’ project by organizing its first visit to Qatar University (QU), in the framework of youth development towards their effective contribution and leadership in building a better future and a life rich with giving, vitality and fulfillment.
Through the ‘Moqbeleen’ project, the Center seeks to interact with community events in various categories at public and private institutions, in order to introduce and raise awareness about the different activities, projects, and development services that the Center provides to the community, as well as to inform members of the community about the various channels they can utilize to take advantage of the community services available at NAMA Center, while highlighting the requirements of social development and working on designing development programs that harmonize with the objectives of the Center.
On this occasion, Ms. Mariam bint Abdullatif Al Mannai – Director of the Community Services Department, and the Director in charge of running NAMA’s affairs, said:
“We are pleased to be at Qatar University today and we extend our gratitude to its Administration for giving us the opportunity to meet and communicate with the University’s students and staff, with the aim of presenting them with the main headlines for the ‘Moqbeleen’ project, through which the Center seeks to introduce our youth to our objectives at NAMA Center and what it has to offer in terms of projects and a variety of community services that aim to raise the profile and qualification of the individual, as well as supporting them technically, financially, and logistically, so they can embark on their career and achieve economic independence and social stability, all the way to contributing to the achievement of the Qatar National Vision 2030, which is based on sustainable economic development and founded on science and knowledge . We also seek through this project to attract volunteers to be involved in the development of the community, and serving their beloved country Qatar.”
On his part, Mr. Abdullah Al-Yafei, Director of Student Services & Activities at Qatar University, said:
Qatar University always aims to partner and cooperate with social institutions like Nama. Also, we pay attention to all opportunities that support youth and particularly Qatar University students. Qatar University as a national educational foundation aims to provide an education with quality and to give the students an experience full of activities and experiences that develop their leadership skills. In addition, we aim to link our students to the community and the social institutions, so they can gain and exchange experience, skills and opportunities.
In order to raise awareness about the importance of voluntary work in community service, NAMA Center will organize periodic visits to private companies and public institutions in various business sectors, and introduce them to the objectives and activities of the Center and its services, in addition to learning about community needs and attracting socially active youngsters as candidates for the Center’s programs.
Emanating from her desire to achieve human and social development in the State, Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser established NAMA center in 1996, with the aim of providing a stimulating environment that contributes to investing in the potential and creativity of youth, as well as to meet their needs and aspirations as partners in civil work, while exploring the best opportunities and innovating to lead the renaissance of their communities.
"By youth and with youth, we shape our stances towards Qatar"
Since 2013, the center has been working under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work (QFSW). NAMA is a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and the Arab Network for NGOs, and the World Family Organization (WFO).
