The Friends for Diabetes Association, of the Health Education Department of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah has donated AED200 thousand to back the diabetics charity clinic located at the headquarters of Emirates Red Crescent- Sharjah.
This was announced in a meeting held by both sides at the headquarters of the association at the Health Education Department.
The meeting was attended by Head of Friends for Diabetes Association Khawla Taher Al Haj, endocrinologist and deputy head of the association Dr. Elham Al Amiri, Association Coordinator Reem Fares as well as many female volunteers working in the association. Officials from Emirates Red Crescent Society Were also present; including Abdulla Al Muhairi, Emirates Red Crescent- Sharjah Director; Amr Obeid Al Naqbi, Head of the Support Services Division; Sheikha Ali Al Suwaidi, Head of the local aids department and head of the support services division at the medical center Walid Shaaban.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation in field of volunteering in favor of diabetics in Sharjah. They also discussed support provision by equipping the diabetics’ clinic in the society with the medical apparatuses, heads of insulin pens, needles as well as free test strips for disease early diagnosis. Discussions also tackled the presentation of the cumulative sugar periodical test service every three months, as well as a big amount of required insulin to treat patients that go for check up at the Red Crescent pharmacy in Sharjah.
Both sides recommended increasing prevention programs about diabetes by implementing joint awareness activities and campaigns. They also agreed on the importance of working on finding permanent donors, doctors, nurses and nutritionists volunteering to work at the Red Crescent clinic in order to provide support for diabetics with medical consultations, treatments and medicines.
