Capital Health, a newly formed private integrated healthcare group, opened its first multi-specialty healthcare facility, Health Shield Medical Center, in Abu Dhabi today. Located in the Ministries Complex area of the capital, the medical center will provide local residents and medical tourists access to world-class technologies, treatments and expertise from leading medical professionals.

Speaking on World Health Day, Dr Yehia El Gabbani, Hospital Director of Emirates Hospital-Jumeirah, said the UAE healthcare market’s innovative progress make it the leading healthcare destination in the MENA region. The country has seen a surge in new specialised services and treatments for residents and innovative products such as surgical robots, augmented reality systems, and artificial intelligence.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has issued public warnings on the use of dietary supplements due to their alarming side effects including sharp drop in blood pressure, anxiety, irritability, nervousness, rapid heartbeat. The ministry also warned against the interaction between some contraceptive medicines and an anti-epileptic. Recently, the Ministry recalled various products for violations and failing to meet the set safety standards, to name a few food supplements which contain salmonella bacteria; drug used to relieve heartburn and acid indigestion, and medical device used as a device managing medical image because of the loss of some images.

Zulekha Hospital today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sharjah Health Authority (SHA) The aim of the MoU is to provide quality medical treatments at discounted rates to the Authority’s beneficiaries. This includes Sharjah Government employees, their dependents and retirees covered under insurance, elderly residents in the Emirate of Sharjah not holding insurance coverage and additionally UAE nationals based in the Emirate of Sharjah.
