In an age that is dominated by screens and video games, parents generally encourage children to play outdoors to build upper body strength, balance and resilience. However, engaging in vigorous physical activities may lead to fall which can break a bone. In an endeavour to support development of Fertility and Reproductive Medicine in Oman, IVI Middle East Fertility Clinic Muscat– has organised a series of programmes for the medical community, in association with the Oman Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OSOG). The clinical team will participate in a number of workshops starting in December 2018 until February 2019 in four different cities in Oman – Sohar, Salalah, Muscat and Sur.
In the Year of Zayed, Burjeel Royal Hospital and Medeor 24×7 International Hospital in Al Ain are proud to support a disaster-recovery project led by the global NGO, All Hearts and Hands-Smart Response. Two staff nurses from the two hospitals, Thomas Joseph and Sajeer Poonthala, are in Nepal with over 60 volunteers who are building a school for the local community. Thomas and Sajeer will be providing basic first aid, health and hygiene awareness classes for the volunteers and demonstrations for local villagers in the disaster-affected communities.
A first for the United Arab Emirates, a whole genome-sequencing of an Emirati Boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) was conducted at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), as part of a collaborative research with the Autism Program at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital (Al Jalila Children’s), in Dubai Healthcare City.
