The award-winning 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant on Al Maryah Island serves a nine-course Natsu Tasting Menu until September 30.
“Natsu” is the Japanese term for summer, an apt title for all that the special menu has to offer. With a focus on light dishes and fresh produce, the set menu at the Japanese haute cuisine restaurant features a variety of seasonal classics with a contemporary twist.
Available daily from 7 pm until 11.30 pm, the menu is priced at AED 789 per couple. The resident sommelier is on hand for those who would like to pair the authentic Japanese flavours with selected grapes for a combined price of AED 999.
Food is only half of the tasting menu experience. The summer dinner concept is a social affair, be it sharing the signature plate of panko mistura maki with prawn, king crab, avocado and seabass or the popular ‘Golden Bricks’ of toro tartar served with tobiko and golden leaves.
Jaime Castaneda, general manager at 99 Sushi Bar Ltd, said: “The Natsu Tasting Menu is the 99 Sushi way of taking our guests on a journey through summer in Japan. A burst of flavours come together in each course that uses premium quality ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. The dishes are light, and the sharing platter experience makes this dinner a fun night out for all.”
From toro flambé and scallop nigiri options to the popular fatty tuna tartar and sashimi platter, there is something for every palate. The expert chefs keep surprising diners with exceptional dishes like the Spanish red shrimp cooked in two different temperatures, tuna and beef bacon taco and kobe edamame.
Completing the fine dining experience on a sweet note is the signature chocolate fondant served with caramel ice-cream and golden leaves. There’s more; a round of coffee or tea is available for those who like to wash down a meal with a hint of caffeine.
Not only does the restaurant’s Natsu menu give guests the chance to sample refreshing Japanese dishes to beat the heat, 99 Sushi Bar & Restaurant offers an elegant ambience to match. With warm lighting that complements the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the Arabian Gulf, attention to detail can be found in the chic décor as in the summer menu.
