Boutique, lifestyle hotel Andaz Dubai The Palm, a city favourite for its community inclusive atmosphere, chic restaurant concepts and eclectic interiors has partnered with Dubai-based GCAF (Green Container Advanced Farming) to introduce their very own organic container farm right on the terrace of their Palm Jumeirah location.

The hotel’s ongoing commitment to sustainability has been a focus since its 2019 opening, with multiple initiatives to reduce single use plastic and use of environmentally friendly products. Through the new partnership with GCAF, a member of the AlSerkal Group, Andaz Dubai The Palm will take a step further to the property’s green approach by harvesting their very own hydroponic produce onsite, to be utilized in the preparation of dishes at the hotel’s multiple dining establishments. This method of farming not only reduces the amount of water needed to grow by up to 90% compared to traditional soil farming but also reduces the carbon footprint created by distribution modes of transportation whether by air or land and reduces food waste by harvesting only according to daily requirements.

“At Andaz we strive to be more sustainable in everything that we do, using resources responsibly to help address today’s most pressing environmental issues. With this partnership our goal is to bring the freshest and finest ingredients from their natural environment straight to our guests’ tables. We have a dedicated grower who visits the farm daily. They work within sterile conditions and get to know every single crop within the unit. Once the crop is ready to consume it is delivered straight to our kitchens where our dedicated chefs prepare it ready to be served to our guests. It really take the farm to table concept to the next level,” said Kifah Bin Hussein, General Manager of Andaz Dubai The Palm.

Andaz Dubai The Palm’s new container farm is 400 square feet in size and completely pesticide and herbicide free which ranks it beyond organic. Some of the produce grown in the farm includes salad and lettuce variations, herbs such as basil, microgreens and edible flowers. Guests visiting Andaz’s dining venues, including neighborhood eatery The Locale and popular Japanese eatery Hanami will be able to enjoy culinary creations made with the freshest and most nutritious produce sourced daily from the hotel’s very own farm.

Delivering the city’s coolest in culture, Dubai’s first Andaz branded hotel Andaz Dubai The Palm opened in December 2019. Located on the trunk of the iconic Palm Jumeirah the vibrant five-star boutique lifestyle hotel and designer residences blends spectacular local design, neighbourhood eateries and distinct programming allowing guests to immerse themselves in the locale - arriving a visitor and departing a local.

Andaz Dubai The Palm is within walking distance of the newly opened Nakheel Shopping Mall, home to 300-plus outlets, featuring a wide range of restaurants and leisure attractions, including toy shops, cinemas, supermarkets, along with a host of everyday services such as a medical and fitness centres, banks and tailoring services.
