The emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is rolling out an action-and-deals packed programme for the entire family to mark the upcoming celebratory weekend of the country’s 46th National Day.

“From aerobatics displays, a concert by leading Emirati performers, traditional entertainment shows and tempting staycation offers for visitors, the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah has planned a celebratory programme designed to suit the entire family which is sure to attract tourists and residents alike,” said Haitham Mattar, CEO, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), which develops and regulates the emirate’s tourism infrastructure and initiates its domestic and overseas promotions.

What to see and do:

The build-up action starts Tuesday, November 28 when Fursan Al Emarat takes to the skies over Ras Al Khaimah for a dazzling aerobatics display. For over 45 minutes, starting at 3.30pm, the squad will hold spectators spellbound as they trail the colours of the UAE flag through the air. People can take in the spectacle with superb views from Old Corniche.

On National Day Eve – Friday, December 1 - four of the UAE’s top singers will take to a giant stage in front of the signature Julphar Towers for a free-to-attend concert that will culminate with a mega fireworks display. On the bill is popular songstress Balquis and best-selling artists Hussein al Jasmi, Aida Al Manhali and Mehad Hamad. The concert, starting at 7pm, is expected to last for an hour before the skies light up with the firework spectacular around 7pm.

From November 16, right up until National Day, Food Traffic – a convoy of 15 food trucks and outlets – will serve up international dishes opposite Julphar Towers each evening from 4.30pm until 10pm.

Residents and visitors will also get the chance to see a traditional Emirati Yola dance – the most popular battle scene dance in the UAE culture performed by a male troupe with sticks, swords or rifles to traditional music – on December 1st and 2nd at various points throughout the emirate. On both days, from 4pm until 10pm, the troupe will tour the emirate in their mobile dance truck stopping at various sites to entertain crowds.

National Day will also see the start of a 17-day heritage celebration for families in the Sad Sahwka area where residents and visitors can sample traditional food and experience UAE cultural entertainment.
