MANGO creates an exclusive design for its ambassador, Sofía Sanchez de Betak, which will be available on starting 3 June 2019. Furthermore, the brand launches a capsule collection of outfits and accessories inspired by this year’s Camp theme.

For the first time in history, Met Gala welcomes a Spanish high-street brand – MANGO was present at the world’s most important social event in the fashion industry, with the creation of an exclusive dress for Sofía Sanchez de Betak, the brand’s ambassador. The art director and fashion consultant attended the event, held at the legendary Metropolitan Museum of Art, hosted by Anna Wintour, Lady Gaga and Harry Styles, co-chaired by Serena Williams and Gucci’s Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, with a design inspired by this year’s theme.

The exclusive piece, created for the occasion, embodies the ingenuity and extravagance defined by the Camp concept. An amusing aesthetic which refers to the notion of mango as a fruit in its most colourful aspect: striking tones, intricate fabrics, volumes, details in the accessories and a particular sensibility on the theatrical.

To give form and articulate the identity of this exclusive design, Sofía Sanchz de Betak worked together with the stylist Mimi Cuttrell and the MANGO design team on its development. “This is a very significant moment for MANGO. With these types of projects, we want to inspire our customers, show them another side of the brand, present them other experiences and make them a part of historic milestones for the firm,” says Jan Rivera, Image Director at MANGO.

In addition to the limited edition of the model worn by Sofía Sanchez de Betak on the red carpet, the brand has designed a capsule collection inspired by the Met Gala theme. The dress and selection of outfits will be available on starting 3 June 2019. The dress will be priced at AED1,999.

Sofía Sanchez has been collaborating with MANGO for over 2 years. Born in Argentina, she is an entrepreneur, art director, fashion consultant and designer. Her passion for travelling, her magnetic beauty and style, eclectic and individual, makes her a real fashion icon of today.
