Recent studies commissioned by the Embassy of Oman reveal the high regard the majority of Brazilians have towards Arab people and their dependents who reside in Brazil, as well as the strong positive perception towards the countries within the region. The Arab community currently residing in Brazil is estimated at more than 10 million who maintain strong relations with their host country. This serves as encouragement for cooperative efforts from the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

The new Salalah Airport, which commenced its operations last June 15, 2015, is an expansive infrastructure project that features state-of-the-art technology with the chief objective of improving air traffic movement, provide greater connectivity throughout the region and facilitate easier access to Salalah, especially to the Dhofar region. The opening coincides with the ‘Khareef’ season in anticipation of the large influx of visitors who will arrive for the busiest tourist season in the region.

A recent successful visit of a Brazilian official delegation to Egypt has led to the creation of a strategic youth-oriented agenda, which includes key issues such as taking youths off the street and expanding the school feeding program. The move is in line with the activities of the Center of Excellence Against Hunger, a collaboration between the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the Government of Brazil, to help countries expand their school meal programmes to improve the food security of children.

VFS Global, as part of a contract awarded by the Government of Canada introduced Canada Visa Application Centre (CVAC) services in Dubai for applicants wishing to travel to Canada. As per the contract, VFS Global will establish a robust worldwide network of up to 125 CVACs. This centre is the second such centre in the UAE. Canada Visa Application Services have also been introduced in Oman earlier in March.
