Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, announced its platinum sponsorship for the 8th edition of ‘World Green Economy Summit (WGES 2022), which coincides with the 24th edition of the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2022) on 28 and 29 September 2022 at the Dubai World Trade Center. The Summit is organized under the slogan ‘Leading Climate Action through Cooperation: The Roadmap to Achieving Carbon Neutrality’ and will focus on four main pillars; Energy, Finance, Food Security and Youth, in translation of the UAE’s vision to advancing climate action and strengthening international partnerships and efforts to achieve climate goals.
Energy is one of the most prominent aspects of district cooling systems, as air conditioning operations consume 70% of the electrical energy in the region, while district cooling systems reduces electricity consumption up to 50% compared to conventional cooling systems.
Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, said: “The 2022 summit comes in parallel with the active role of countries in the region in the global sustainability agenda by adopting effective strategies to adapt to the repercussions of climate change and mitigate its effects.
Bin Shafar explained that Empower, the platinum sponsor of the summit, will invest its participation in the event to invite decision-makers around the world to adopt and expand the use of district cooling solutions that have proven their effectiveness in being the best environmental option when it comes to air conditioning. The levels of greenhouse gas emissions, which constitute one of the most important challenges facing societies seeking to transition to a green economy and sustainability.
