Pre-Prep pupils, parents and staff at Brighton College Abu Dhabi came together yesterday morning to celebrate the close relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom at the College’s annual community event, the Pre-Prep Proms.

The fun and engaging celebration highlighted the UAE’s historical links with the United Kingdom and featured an experiential stand with activities and local Emirati cuisine.

This year’s event featured wonderful musical performances from pupils from FS2 to Year 2 who performed British-themed songs alongside the College’s band from iconic performers such as The Beatles and Gary Barlow. Dressed in the national colours of the United Kingdom, pupils took part in a traditional Proms Fayre which featured learning activities such as games and quizzes which were based on the 4 countries of the United Kingdom and made decorative style bunting.

Pupils and parents were also treated to traditional bakes and refreshments such as English scones, Welsh cakes and Scottish tablets. Parents and children were also encouraged to take part in the College’s Great British Bake Off competition which saw the College’s community share home-baked sweet treats based on the theme of the UAE and the UK.

Kelly Mansbridge, Head of Pre-Prep at Brighton College Abu Dhabi said: “Our annual Pre-Prep Proms event is a wonderful way to educate our young pupils about the strong links between the country they live in and the country from where the school group originates. Yesterday was an enormous success due to our wonderful children, staff and families. It’s brilliant to be able to come together again and for the children to perform confidently with an audience. Thank you to everyone that made this possible.”
