The Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance announce the results of the 25th session of Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research for the year 2022. The award attracted participations of 13 Arab countries where there were four winning research papers out of a total of 72 participants at the level of the Arab world.
His Excellency Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar, Director General of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture, and Science (ALECSO) expressed his delight to announce the results of the competitions of Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance and its conclusion of 25 years in service in the development of educational sector. His Excellency added that the organization's partnership with Hamdan Foundation demonstrates its intention to promote and disseminate research in the field of education by highlighting the significance of researchers in offering all decision-makers the tools they need to create high-quality, well-balanced education that helps close the knowledge gap between developed and developing societies, highlighting the importance of research and studies in supporting the initiatives of Arab governments and organizations focused at enhancing education. Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar noted that Hamdan – ALECSO Award has been successful in identifying effective research practices in education in the Arab world, and that the dissemination of these practices throughout the Arab world contributes to turning these initiatives into actions in the educational fields, which helps to increase opportunities and the expansion of the research and its impact on raising educational standards in the Arab world.
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Ould Amar said that four research papers are on the list of winners for the 25th session of Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research. Three researchers are from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one researcher is from the Republic of Yemen. These four research papers are as follows:
1. ‘The Impact of Using Game Based Classrooms on Developing Self-Regulated Learning Skills and Educational Resilience Among Third-intermediate Students in the English Language Course’ by Dr. Ali Hasan Shawkan Najmy(KSA)
2. ‘A Proposed Normative Framework "Najaz Program" for the Development of Performance Indicators in Secondary Schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’ by Dr. Mohammad bin Ali Alkhreizy (KSA)
3. ‘Cybersecurity Awareness and its Relationship to Digital Transformation Among Supervisors in Jazan Education Department’ by Dr. Mariam Yehya Mohammad Oteif (KSA).
4. ‘A Proposed Vision to Employ Digital Media for Arab Universities in Spreading and Consolidating the Values of Coexistence and Tolerance Among University Youth’ by Prof. Dr. Khaled Hasan Ali Al Hariri (Yemen)
For his part, His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, expressed his delight with Hamdan Foundation’s fruitful collaboration with ALECSO, which culminated in the announcement of the results of the Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research in its current session and the successful achievement reflected by the high level of participations from the Arab countries. The two institutions are pursuing a sound methodology to create a cultivating environment for these participations, and it is necessary to emphasize the value of research and studies for decision makers to enrich educational work and promote the research spirit among academics and education specialists. His Excellency added, “As it celebrates its silver jubilee, Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance continues its collaboration with ALECSO and other regional and international organizations thanks to government empowerment and the support of the educational community, which is distinguished by a keen awareness of the importance of excellence in educational performance and its role in enhancing educational quality and promoting sustainable development through the qualification of capable cadres to lead the process of development and growth.”
His Excellency emphasized that by establishing Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research, Hamdan Foundation seeks to identify outstanding researchers and effective educational practices, disseminate them in the educational field so that educators may benefit from them and realize their full potential. This is accomplished by fostering a competitive environment that enhances researchers' abilities in the field of education and motivates them to unlock their potential. This is in the interest of growing the Arab education sector and rendering it more competitive internationally. Additionally, encouraging educational research is a fundamental component for delivering improved educational services to Arab people.
The number of participants in the competitions of Hamdan – ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research has reached 72 researchers, as follows: 27 researchers from Saudi Arabia, 26 researchers from Egypt, and 4 researchers from the Jordan, 3 researchers from Morocco, 2 researchers from Algeria, 2 researchers from Palestine, and 1 researcher each from Bahrain, Iraq, Yemen, Tunisia, Syria, Mauritania and Kuwait.
A ceremony honoring the winners of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance Awards will be organized in March 2023 in Dubai. It will include winners of various local, Gulf and Arab levels, as well as international talent awards.
