The first edition of the “E88 Market’” Food and Shopping Festival will kick off tomorrow (Friday), November 23, at the Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre, where food and shopping lovers can enjoy a unique dining and shopping experience.

Running from November 23 to December 4, the colorful outdoor extravaganza will enable visitors to savor a variety of culinary delicacies offered by more than 20 food trucks and other food businesses. The event also offers shopping lovers a chance to shop for fashion and accessory items, arts, crafts and more, as 15 leading and emerging companies will be in attendance.

The 12-day event offers a unique opportunity for entrepreneurs who are actively involved in various arts and crafts projects, as well as owners of startups, to launch and promote their products within a family ambience.

The E88 Market Food and Shopping Festival will offer outdoor activities, including entertainment, musical and folklore shows and performances. On offer will also be film screenings, live cooking demonstrations and kids food workshops dedicated to teaching culinary skills and the art of cooking.

Hanan Al Mahmoud, CEO of JRCC, said: “We strive through the first ‘E88 Market’ to offer a unique platform for new entrepreneurs and owners of startups to share their successful enterprises and experiences with the public, as well as to promote their products in a fun-packed and family leisure atmosphere.”

She added: “The 'E88 Market' enjoys a strategic location within Al Jawaher Reception and Convention Centre, located opposite Sharjah International Airport and close to University City and other surrounding residential areas, providing easy access for both exhibitors and visitors. This will contribute to attracting various segments of society who will find everything they need, all under one roof, including products and tasty cuisine, as well as art and entertainment offerings.”

Al Mahmoud praised the role of government bodies and sponsors for their great support and efforts that contributed to making this food and shopping event possible, providing an interactive environment targeting all community members and allowing emerging entrepreneurs a platform to showcase their products and services.

Three Emirati folk shows on December 2

Coinciding with UAE National Day, visitors will be treated to several Emirati shows combining traditional singing and folk dancing. The first show, performed by a group of children wearing traditional Emirati dress, will be held from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. The second and third performances will take place at 8:30pm to 9pm, and 9:15pm to 9:45pm, respectively.

14 film screenings

The “E88 Market’ will include 14 film screenings in collaboration with the Sharjah International Children’s Film Festival (SICFF), organized by FUNN Foundation-Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children. The films, selected from the latest movies that were screened during the sixth edition of SICFF, will be screened on an outdoor cinema.

24 Set of Entertainment performances

Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy watching and engaging with 24 set of entertainment performances that will be staged in collaboration with the Green Room the KG Productions, performed by touring bands and aerobatic dancers.

Four competitions

The event will see the organising of a series of interactive and fun-packed competitions, such as the ‘Mystery Box’. Participants in this contest will be divided into groups, each of which will be asked to prepare an appetizer dish and a main dish using ingredients in the box, within one hour.  This is besides other competitions.

The “E88 Market” Food and Shopping Event offers visitors an exceptional dining experience with a selection of local and international restaurants, namely Attibasi at Al Qasba, Hoof Café, My Station, Rice Creamery, O3 Zone Café, Jollibee, Al Mashmum Food, August Snow, Gyros & Doner, JRCC’s Café. Food trucks are from Depressor and IBS Burger.

Among the brands and startup ventures participating in the event are Dalina, Ghurzah, Art Deco, Saja Perfume, Al Koukh Al Dahabi and Reem Abaya.
