The deadline for entries has been extended for the 9th edition of the Middle East Emergent Designer Prize by Van Cleef & Arpels, in partnership with Tashkeel.
Now closing on Sunday, 29 May 2022, designers from around the GCC are submitting entry proposals under the central theme of ‘Renewal’, with the winning designer set to receive AED30,000 to produce her or his design during a 12-week period, with the final design piece to be showcased at Les Salons Van Cleef & Arpels Dubai Opera boutique plus a trip for the designer to Paris for masterclasses at L’ECOLE Van Cleef & Arpels.
From 24 – 26 May, representatives from Tashkeel will meet with members of the regional design community at the INDEX, one of the Middle East's largest interior design events, to encourage participation in the Middle East Emergent Designer Prize.
Previous winners of the prize have commented on how it has fundamentally changed the trajectory of their respective careers:
Hamza Omari, the prize winner in 2017 year, said, “The regional design industry is relatively young and such initiatives give designers a much-needed boost to innovate, task risks, and explore.”
The first-ever Middle East Emergent Designer Prize winner, Salem Al Mansoori, said, “Winning the prize was simply life-changing…it afforded me so many opportunities that have made me the designer I am today.”
The prize’s edition four winner, Ranim Orouk, said that the Middle East Emergent Designer Prize is “a true once-in-a-lifetime experience that opens up a door of unlimited opportunities.”
To qualify for entry, applicants must live in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain and the deadline for submitting proposals is now 29 May 2022.
