In conjunction with ‘Pink October’ (International Breast Cancer Awareness Month), Sharjah Asset Management, investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, in cooperation with the Pink Caravan, launched an awareness campaign for its employees, to raise awareness for breast cancer and the importance of early screening for prevention.
The campaign included free breast examinations to employees of the Pink Caravan mobile medical clinic and included a session presented by the Pink Caravan’s medical staff, where they discussed methods of diagnosing breast cancer, conducting a breast self-examination, and the importance of early detection to prevent the disease. Additionally, advice on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle was provided, which reduces the overall incidence of breast and other types of cancer. This advice included eating a healthy diet, maintaining an ideal weight, and exercising regularly; employee inquiries about the disease were answered, with an emphasis placed on the need to continue early screening.
Fatima Al Banna, Acting Manager - Media and Communications, said: “This campaign stems from our societal responsibility to preserve the health and safety of our employees, and to raise awareness about various diseases. In this campaign, Sharjah Asset Management continues its efforts through active partnerships with various institutions concerned with society, particularly with the Pink Caravan, which is one of the greatest humanitarian, charitable initiatives that originated from the Emirate of Sharjah. The initiative involves many positive endeavours, with the goal to promote community health.”
